So Much More Than Two-Faced

Sometimes he is Coyote Old Man sharing his wisdom, sometimes a lusty young pooch pursuing his appetites. In his own words: "I am the lifeblood of myth, the dramatist of truth, the most handsome, intelligent fellow ever put into words, the unkillable, enduring bringer of good fortune...." And so on. More than simply wise man and buffoon, Coyote has a large medicine bundle of masks, and he wears them all. A native elder once said, "When it seems that many coyotes are howling at night, it is really just one."
