Mister Bear Comes Home

In 2007, a trail crew under BLM contract to improve the trail up Lower Table Rock, moved Bear Rock to the side of the trail and turned him around so he no longer greeted visitors near the summit. On May 16, 2009, folks gathered to turn Mister Bear so that he once again faced the right direction. Four Southern Oregon University students worked with Thomas Doty and organized the project: Dawn "Kelly" Ogle, Serena Rittenhouse-Barry, Chris Hines and Shawn Walker. The return of Bear Rock was accompanied by a native ceremony.
