1923: Train Wreck!

Train wreck! In 1923, my Grandpa Roscoe was working on a crew building the Tieton Dam in Yakima County, Washington. On August 17, an engine derailed, and it took the crew two days using cables, levers, pulleys and who-knows-what-else to get the engine back on the tracks. The bottom photo was taken on August 19 (Grandpa Roscoe is on the left).
