Constellations of Geese

Every fall the sky over the Klamath Basin spins north to south with skeins of migrating Canada geese, winging in patterns like constellations of flight and sound.

Sometimes the patterns shrink, sometimes they stretch, sometimes geese break away to form new patterns. At the height of migration, constellations of geese shapeshift in a sped-up, big-bang drama of desert sky creation. The firmament honking of geese makes "the music of the stars" a day and night song stretched through November.

Every fall the sky spins with the winging of geese, the singing of geese ... geese as many as stars.
